Comedy is usually honed through open mics and endless repetitions, but my path is different. With six different pursuits demanding my time, I don’t have the luxury of refining jokes through multiple performances. What I put on YouTube has likely been performed just once (or twice), unlike most comedians who test material extensively before going public.
My bandwidth is spread thin—running a business, art curation, bird photography, snake rescues, and running a comedy club all compete with my stand-up. Every performance is a high-stakes gamble. No safety net, no muscle memory—just raw, fresh, and sometimes untested material.
Despite this, I recently opened for Nishant Suri, winner of Comicstaan Season 1, with a set built entirely around the news cycle. From the Maha Kumbh Mela to the Cricket Champions Trophy, Donald Trump to Elon Musk, I stitched together a topical set. The challenge? Topical comedy has a short shelf life. What’s hilarious today might be irrelevant in two weeks, but it forces me to stay sharp and write fast.
Without the luxury of refining jokes over time, I rely purely on instincts. Every set is a live experiment—some jokes land, others don’t. But that’s what keeps it exciting. My journey in stand-up may not be conventional, but it is what it is as of today! Hope you enjoy this set. Please like, comment and share if you do.
